If you got here after a TikTok downloader refused your link, that is what was supposed to happen. The two apps are not interchangeable.
Douyin is not TikTok
ByteDance runs Douyin in mainland China and TikTok everywhere else. Same company, two separate apps: different videos, different servers, different accounts. Douyin also allows longer videos and has its own shows that do not exist on TikTok.
A video on one does not exist on the other. A link from one means nothing to the other. Any tool built for TikTok addresses will refuse a v.douyin.com link, and it is right to.
The share text, not a link
Here is the thing that catches everyone out. Douyin's share button does not copy a plain address. It copies a whole block of text: a promotional sentence, a row of emoji, a short code, and a v.douyin.com link somewhere in the middle.
People assume they copied the wrong thing and go looking for a cleaner option. There is not one. That block is the share format. Paste all of it, and the address gets picked out of the text for you.
The link always starts with https://v.douyin.com/ followed by a short code. Selecting just that part works too. It is simply fiddly on a phone, with no advantage.

Like on TikTok, the stamp is not part of the stored video. It is added when you save from inside the app: Douyin makes a marked copy with its logo and the author's name, and gives you that one.
Going to the source avoids the stamp and the extra rebuild that comes with it. The clip was already compressed once when it was posted. Not compressing it a second time is most of what separates a good download from a poor one.
Do it straight away
One practical quirk to know: the addresses Douyin's servers hand out do not last long. A link you extracted and left in a tab for a few hours will often have stopped working.
That looks like a broken tool, but it is just an expired address. The fix is easy — extract again from the share text. It is simply a reason to download when you extract, rather than lining up twenty links for tomorrow.
When extraction fails
Three causes cover most of it.
The text you pasted has no link in it. Some share options only copy a description, or a code meant to be typed into the app's search box. If you cannot see v.douyin.com anywhere in the text, copy it again from Share.
The video was taken down. Douyin moderates a lot, and a clip that was up this morning may not be by the afternoon. Open the link in a browser: if Douyin will not play it either, there is nothing to take.

Expect distance, and Chinese
Douyin serves mainland China. Its servers are there, and a request from Europe or America crosses the planet to reach them. A few extra seconds is distance, not a fault.
The videos follow the same logic. Almost everything is in Chinese, and the catalogue barely overlaps with TikTok's. If you are looking for something you saw on TikTok, it is almost certainly not on Douyin.
Photo posts behave differently
Like TikTok, Douyin has a photo mode: still images moving to music. It looks like video in the feed, but there is no video file behind it. Only a set of pictures and a sound track that the app puts together as it plays.
So saving one gives you the pictures. The moving version does not exist as a file.
